Malagold Overlook A Faraway Echo "Sloane"
(March 23, 2003)
Sloane came to me as pick bitch from an incredible breeding done by Connie Gerstner and Teri Kocher. It was a breeding I had always wished for but never able to do on my own.
Sloane has always been a lady. Yes, she could still scale an eight-foot fence at 10 years old, dig mile long tunnels in the lawn in pursuit of a single mole, and has a bark that would scare the most heinous of criminals. But, she is incredibly gentle, never pushy or demanding and a wonder with puppies. While she has had several litters of her own, she is the “Mom” to all Overlook puppies and makes raising them effortless. She’s a wonderful teacher and the bond between Sloane and the puppies she raises is incredible to see. How we adore her.
Sloane just celebrated her 14th birthday in March, 2017 and she's a joy to watch. She definitely has slowed down and has a bit of trouble standing, but once she is up she is moving quickly, especially at breakfast and dinner time. Nothing like the older dogs!
The girls at Overlook are the brains and beauty of my breeding program. They are smart…very smart…too smart! They are independent and confident with an unending aim to please. Their affection knows no bounds and they provide smiles and laughs just in the simple things they do.
Overlooks Blue Savannah Skye "Sahara"
(April 30, 2004)
Sahara could be the prettiest bitch I have ever bred. You can't help but want to squeeze those cheeks when she looks at you. Apparently judges feel that way too! Through limited showing Sahara was Winners Bitch under three highly respected breeder judges: Ms. Connie Miller, Mr. Michael Faulkner and Mr. Donald Sturz. Sahara is a joy to show and loves every minute of being in the ring. We've nicknamed her Beauty Queen because she acts like one and looks like one. Unfortunately, her show career was cut short when she developed a life threatening infection that resulted in a spay to save her life.
We brought her back out into the show ring as a Veteran and she took a Judges Award of Merit in 2014 at the Hudson Valley Golden Retriever Specialty adn was Best Veteran again in 2015! She is still just as beautiful to watch and an absolute joy to show.
Overlooks Soft Autumn Light "Sophie"
(September 11, 2004)
Sophie has been a source of constant joy for all of us. Clearly the pick of Scout’s litter of twelve, she has never disappointed us in temperament, health or joy. She is opinionated, spoiled and very much the queen. She torments her son, Sutton, and is relentless with anyone who has “her” ball. She is a "talker" when she's crazy-happy and she's passed that on to many of her kids.
In Sophie’s three litters we have always found a puppy that fits the Overlook character. Whether it be Sutton, Sunday or Daisy, Sophie has produced the most wonderful dogs who mirror her in so many ways.
Overlooks A Sunday in Autumn "Sunday"
(June 12, 2008)
In an effort to expand the gene pool for health and longevity, Sophie's second litter was sired by the stunning Scottish import, Harry. This beautiful breeding produced some exceptionally lovely dogs, the most exceptional of all being Sunday.
Sunday is very much Scout’s granddaughter. She’s independent, incredibly smart and funny. She’s also stunning to look at and has begun training in agility. She hasn’t met a jump she doesn’t like or a tire or dog walk that doesn’t intrigue. She’s also a wonderful Mom, having produced several beautiful litters that carry the Overlook tradition of beauty, brains and sweetness. Summer, Sundance and Sailor reside here at Overlook and they love their Mom!
Overlooks A Long Ago September Skye "September"
(January 19, /2010)
September is a Sutton x Sierra daughter and very much pick of that litter. Not only was she pick in terms of conformation, but she was going to be “picked” given her big mouth and absolute devotion to me. It was amazing to see this adoration at 8 weeks and even more incredible now, because she is “Daddy’s Girl.”
She loves the show ring much more than her parents and is absolutely motivated by the liver. I think she really enjoys it because she loves the one-on-one time with me.
September had her first litter this Summer (2014) sired by the incredibly handsome, Overlooks Handsome Honcho Brown "Honcho". We kept pick bitch, Safari, and she's a wonderful combination of her parents. September had her second litter in May, 2015 and produced 11 wonderful puppies sired by "Tweed" Cross Creek Royal Blend.
September had her third litter in February 2017 sired by Golden Grahams Get Your Motor Running "Bentley." Gorgeous puppies despite another emergency c-section!
Overlook Faraway Storm Clouds Gather "Stormy"
(April 28, 2011)
We call her “Crazy Ass Bitch” because she is so full of life and never seems to sleep. Our Stormy is an incredible dog that is fearless, fun and adores every creature – two and four legged.
Her sire is the incredibly handsome CH Beau Geste Poztvly Gavin @ Wildrose "Gavin" a conformation champion and agility wonder. The combination was perfect on so many levels.
Stormy started her show career with two first place wins in the Bred By Exhibitor class at Specialties just after her second birthday. She also started her career as a Mom with a litter of puppies sired by our Sutton, born in the Summer of 2013. The litter just turned four in July 2017 and we couldn't be happier. We kept pick bitch, Schayla, who is everything her mother is and more!
Stormy's second litter to our Sawyer, was a beautiful combination of pedigree, brains and looks. These puppies just turned a year old in July 2017 and they are a delight to everyone who shares their lives with them.
Overlooks A Faraway Glimpse of Skye
(December 1, 2011)
Skylar was pick bitch, along with her brother Sawyer, from Sloane’s last litter. I loved this litter and had a very difficult time deciding which puppy to keep…so I kept two and I’m glad I did. Skylar has matured into a beautiful dog with a stunning expression and perfect coat. She creates quite the impression from afar and up close is so affectionate and gentle. She doesn’t have the drive of some of the other girls and may not be the smartest dog at Overlook. I often think of her as my California girl - not a care in the world and adored by all. She tortures her brother and can always be found sitting side by side with her mother, Sloane.
Skylar had her first litter of 11 puppies in May 2015 and proved to be an exemplary Mom. The litter was sired by "Honcho", Overlooks Handsome Honcho Brown, and we liked the litter so much, we repeated it in 2017 and five more beautiful puppies were born the day after Thanksgiving!
Overlook A Glorious Sunday in Summer
(July 24, 2013)
Summer was the only girl in a litter of three, but she let her brothers know she was the boss! With a demeanor that is nothing but sweet and loving, Summer is a standout at Overlook. She asks for little except when she wants a tummy rub. Then, she throws herself down and looks at you with that "here you go, give me some loving!" expression. That is a genetic trait passed down from her mother, Sunday!
Summer had her first litter of ten puppies in April 2016 and was the perfect Mom. Those puppies have grown beautifully and are the perfect next generation of Overlook dogs. Summer's second litter was born in November 2017 and her daughter, Sierra, is the newest addition to the Overlook family!
Overlooks As Fast As The Coming Storm
(July 29, 2013)
There is so much to say about Schayla! She is ball-obsessed. She needs one 24/7 and can fly as fast as the wind when I use the Chuck It and send it way out in the field. She's incredible to watch as she sails over the grass and outruns every other dog at Overlook! But, she isn't greedy. She will always give the ball to anyone who nudges her!
She's also the happiest dog. She always seems to have a big smile and a look in her eye that is pure happiness. She's a very, very smart dog and a quick learner. She doesn't 'test' me like some of the other smart girls. She would rather do as I say without thinking about it in hopes there will be a treat! Everyone who meets her, loves her.
Schayla had her first litter of puppies in September 2017 and she was a perfect Mom who wasn't too anxious to leave her whelping box to chase the ball!
Overlook's Sailing on an Autumn Wind "Sailor"
July 14, 2016)
Like her brother, Sterling, Sailor was the pick bitch from a very special breeding that took me back to my beginnings. She has turned out to be a wonderful dog. She was a mischievous puppy with absolutely no fear! She ran circles around her brother and was always 'busy'. Once she discovered the joys of chasing the ball...she's relentless!
I adore her and she makes me laugh with her antics and smiling face. I swear she is always smiling. We have high hopes for this young girl!
Overlook's A Summer's Skye At Dawn "Sierra"
This adorable bundle of fur is the newest addition to the Overlook family. This was a very special breeding that took place in Canada. The sire was a very special dog with a pedigree that was a perfect compliment to my Summer. There were four girls and five boys and everyone of them was just what I had thought this breeding would produce.
We are looking forward to watching this adorable puppy grow and become another beautiful example of what an Overlook dog represents: good health, good temperament, good structure and a beautiful face. I think we are off to a good start. Oh, did I mention she's incredibly smart? Already giving me a run for my money!
